June 1 Website Update

Hi all,

Thought I’d better update you as to the progress of the garden club websites.  After a few trainings, we determined that it was going to be best for Jacob to create tutorials for everyone to use to set up their websites.  That way you can return again and again as needed to review the processes without having to wait for a return call/time to work with Jacob.  Hence, the slow down in trainings right now.  He is creating the tutorials to upload for you to an online location for access and setting up all the initial websites.  He will send out a group email when everything is in place for you to work your way thru the tutorials.  I APOLOGIZE for all the delays.  We are trying to do this right and create the best way for us to continue this service without incurring additional costs and in a manner that best serves your training needs.

If you are attending the State Convention, you can ask Bruna McBride about the process.  Pioneer District’s website is the one that has been completed the most.  I am unable to attend this year due to family commitments (my mother is failing).   Again, thanks and feel free to email me anytime you need.

May 2010

We have begun the training/creation of club websites who lost their websites on Garden Central.  New club websites will begin soon thereafter..  Check out:  http://oregongardenclubs.org/Pioneer  for the look of the new OSFGC, Inc.’s service.

Please let Patty Sorensen (pdsorensen@comcast.net) know if you are planning on using this service as soon as your club decides.

As you wait for your website training, it would be time efficient for you to create the information for each of these tabs now.  If you use Word, you will be able to easily copy/paste directly onto the website.

TABS are:

Good news!  We have been able to use the current OSFGC Go Daddy account for the new service of providing webpage space for clubs.  This means that there will be no yearly cost to clubs.  The only cost is your training as discussed in a previous email.  There are NO monthly costs either. YIPPEEEE

We will be using Picassa Web for the photo uploading program since it interfaces easily with the website creation program. http://picasa.google.com/intl/en_US/web/learn_more_picasa.html

Once we have provided this service to the clubs previously on Garden Central, we will be opening it up to other clubs throughout the state. We want those needs met first since their current website no longer exists.
