Well, it’s winter still, but those crazy daffodils are up showing off their bright yellow flowers. Only why do they have to show up on the edge of the creek bed or better yet why are the tall ones in with the blackberries? I will say though, they did look very festive with the snow around them. I think maybe spring is trying to get here a little early and be noticed.
I hope all of you have read the Winter Mahonia . It is a great newsletter and shows off all the many talented gardeners and great clubs that we have in Oregon. Many thanks to all of you who contributed and thanks to Sue Piper for helping make a ‘Firewise Communities’ project possible for our Pacific Region’s Zoom Webinaires. Register now to attend March 9.
The OSFGC website is being worked on and updated, so please continue to check it out and see it come to life under the skillful hands and help from Lynne Hatfield and Vice President Bernadette Sterry.
This is the time to start seeds and get ready to plant. I see all the beautiful seed packets wherever I go and boy, would I like to just take the photos from the fronts of those packets and go “poof” and have my garden and yard like that! Oh well, that won’t happen. But I do know that our Oregon gardeners are busy making plans for their gardens and yards and they will all be beautiful! They always are!
There are plant sales that will be happening, meetings to attend, and lots of fun things coming your way. Please plan on attending your club, district and state events. Just as you are planning the work in your garden and doing all the preparing, your committees are planning and preparing for your learning and enjoyment in your garden clubs. Please invite someone to come with you to your club. Just as our plants have started to open and reach for spring, our clubs are open to everyone and reaching for new members, ideas, and sharing the love of the garden.
Thanks so much,
President Becky
