Design Rules
The NGC Exhibit Policies and Rules for Design Types are printed in the Handbook for Flower Shows, Chapter 7 HB pg. 63
- The design must be the work of one individual. Exhibitor may enter as many classes as desired, but only one exhibit per class.
- Some plant material must be used in every exhibit. This includes fresh and/or dried plant material.
- Exhibitors may enter multiple classes under the Design Division, but only one (1) exhibit per class.
- The exhibit entered into competition must be the work of only (1) exhibitor and that exhibitors name must appear on the entry card.
- If the designer is unavailable to transport and/or set up his/her completed design, a substitute person may enter the exhibit for the designer.
- A single flower is a design.
- Container grown plants are fresh plant material and are permitted in the Design Section where appropriate, but they are never considered floral designs.
- Landscapes or scenes are not permitted. Sand is not allowed.
- Religious symbols used in a design must be displayed in a respectful manner.
- Plant material and non-plant material permitted in the Design Division are printed in the Handbook for Flower Shows, Chapter 7 (Pgs. 80-81).
- The exhibitor is required to conform to the stated descriptions and limitations of the Design Type if named in the class.
- Designer is on his/her honor that the design has not been previously entered and/or judged in an NGC Standard Flower Show.
- Scale of Points for all Designs is listed in the Handbook for Flower Shows, Chapter 14.
- All staging is provided by the exhibitor.
- All the table coverings will be black.
- All designs are 8” or under except for classes 1 and 2 which are under 10”.
Design Awards
Each class will be awarded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention if warranted.
A special award will be awarded to the design deemed “The Best in Show”.
Classes
- Cup of Oregon
Cup and Saucer. Under 10”.
- Blue Mountains
Dominant blue color. Under 10”.
- Wheat Fields
Dried material. Under 8”.
- Green Valleys
Designers Choice. Under 8”.
- Beachcombing
Using shells and/or wood. Under 8”.
- River Rafting
Showing water. Under 8”.
- Desert in Bloom
Featuring succulents. Under 8”.
